There has never been any gold found there. There are some copper stains and copper associated minerals but the total value of the copper deposit was $68.33 - far exceeding expenses. The claim lease fees alone were more than $100.

This claim of a gold deposit has been extensively investigated by both New Mexico and Arizona. If you are interested in learning more about this "gold" mine and the minerals in the area there is a very nice report available with historical documents and maps. You can download that PDF HERE.
