ring with 14 and 3 lobed crown???

the 14 makes me want to sing out GOLD, then there is a 3 lobed crown symbol but the greenish corrosion around the outside makes me say, "what the" There is no corrosion on the inside of this band, just a real nice gold color.
Maybe there was a non gold inset around the outside of this old ring? This puppy does have some weight to it, but I have no scale.
Found while looking at rock fill that was turned over at the end of a directional bore placing some telecommunications cable.
all the time I have spent MD'g and never found any gold, this was an eyeball find.
Anyone got any ideas?

Have you looked at the rings surface with a 10X jewelers Loupe ? This should allow you to identify plating usually theres some holes and base material shows .
