Simply….what is (was) this stone/mineral? Our son purchased an odd looking sculpture and dropped it.

Try touching your tongue to it. It might be rock salt. If not salty, looks like quartzite.

Interesting approach. I’ll try it when we are home. If it is (was) quartzite, I wonder if we just dropped something with any actual value?

It looks like alabaster to me.
