Rock found in my yard in Needles CA.What's inside gold can anyone help?

looks like mica fused into quartz.....but im definately no expert...very pretty though

Is this a close-up of a small rock or further away of a larger rock so that it will all fit in the picture frame?
We need to see something we know along side to show scale. Either a bowling ball or golf ball, whichever fits.

Also, most people don't realize that they have a macro setting on their digital camera that lets them get the lens as close as 1"-3".
Extreme close-ups would help too.
