Detector(s) used
XP Deus II v0.6 with 11" Coil
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Spent just less than 5 hours gridding the main area on my own. I had no coins after 1.5 hrs, started to get worried, so changed my gridding to the other side where I started last outing. It was a good choice because I then got 2 scrappies & a silver on the first run.

3 for 3 on Roman Silver! That now makes our best Roman Silver record for the month of June. We either get 0 or 2.

A brick looking fragment which is twice the thickness of a roof tile but made from the same material.:icon_scratch: It has a what looks like plaster on it & a groove. Good piece of evidence for the Archies
Animal bones & teeth
Roman Pot Shards
Tessera
Kept just a few of the better looking Nails (As years go on I clear more & more of these as the signals get less)
7 Scrappies
Bebased weak looking Roman Silver of Valerian I AD255, a reverse type I need.

Congrats on your finds glad you got another one that you needed

Wow, what a find! A roman find is a good find! Good work!

Those are some awesome finds! Congrats man.

What a excellent ratio of silver-to-copper you've been experiencing! Wow

I really like the mount w/ nail. Have found a number of the ornamentals w/ that clover shape but never one as a nail mount.

Diagnostic Artifacts - Small Finds - Leather Ornaments

I would think its an ornate tack, or maybe a decorative box mount. I have a few of those leather mounts as well & I assume mine is of the same date - 17th C. This is my first tack of this design, had a few other variants.

This year we covered the whole field & only had 60 to 0 silver. It wasn't until they did this circa 7inch turn that I got these 11 - 2! Which brings the over-all ratio on this field over the years to about 30 to 1. This is another indication of the importance of this site, it's way off the normal average of 70 to 1. Pointing towards a Military stopping point, for at least 200 years. I hope we get the funding to do the big Archie dig to proves some of our theories about it.

Nice going the latest one, your having a good go of it of late.

Your relationship with the Archies in the UK is so far advanced compared to here. I always go out of my way to stop and chat with the one's around here when they're doing a dig in the city. It's so interesting when I mention the word "detecting" it's as if I said I was satan. Then in their eyes I was...Lol

It was very similar here many years ago. But most have realised they get more out of us than is taken away by a few idiot Night Hawkers. I'm pretty sure the work we have done with the British Museum has coloured their views so much that they recently revised their Laws on operating procedures to state that its no longer good enough just to have a metal detector, but that they must use experienced detectorist instead.
