(1 picture is a short solo hunt by Cru'dad on the Abbey Project - 2 scrappies, 2 Roman Nails)
Lovely day today with near T-shirt weather for most of it. It started off very foggy & I could hardly see Cru'dad at 30 metres, but it soon lifted which helped our gridding get back on track.
We spent 6 hours hunting on the flat cultivated but still not drilled land.:icon_scratch: Must be running late, but that's great for us, because we now only have about 10% of the site left & we can move to Fan's site soon to get started there.

36 Roman Bronze Coins
Fossil (new type we need, well spotted Cru'dad)8-)
Roman Leather Mount/belt/strap slide
2 Hob-Nails
Celtic Fibula
Celtic Bronze Unit - Dias Throne. c.AD1-10. Bronze unit. Head right./ Seated figure.
Very cool Roman miniature/votive Axe (best example for awhile)
Marc Antony circa 32 BC Silver Denarius of the IV Legion (my 2nd from this site, this year, & 3rd in total from this site alone!) Very worn but pleased we got the full ID.:icon_thumright:

I've had time to check the collection & the axe is the best one of the lot. (now x4)

Must been a whole industry making these votive figurines and objects. Is there a relationship to the site possible?

Absolutely fantastic, way to go.

The academics got very excited when I shared a lead test piece of a late Roman military buckle, as they are not sure where many of these were made. I've also found 2 types of lead Roman test pieces of 1st C AD Rings. These are the only types of items I can be sure of that were made here. The main problem is, was it handed in to be melted, lost by those working & living there or made there?? No idea on this one.
