Sadly as we turned up, so did the sprayer! So we did the field next door that produces very little. As luck would have it Cru'dad got a nice Roman Headstud Brooch, Rose Farthing, & Fossil. I got a love token, Crotal Bell & eye balled a large Roman disc shaped whatzit!

In the afternoon we did much better back on the Roman Metal Working Site.
As we only have a limited time, my strategy on this field was to do one edge, so that after the harvest we can do the main area & know where we have been. It also meant I could prove the edge of the scatter which we have yet to do on this final edge.

We ended the day after 6 hours with a much better result than expected;

23 Scrappies
Fossil
Crotal Bell
Will III Sixpence (Love Token)
Rose Farthing
14th C Buckle (& bits)
2 Nice Roman Fibula (Brooches) :hello2:- Both fell to Cru'dad & so did the;
Roman Bronze Vessel Mount (Cherub like face) - Top find!:icon_thumright:
Near Complete Roman Nail Cleaner8-)
2 Roman Hobnails
Celtic Brooch
Mystery Roman disc thingy
My find of the day a Celtic Bronze Unit of Andoco circa 10BC in better than average condition.

Amazing history!

You guys are slaying it! I am headed to the UK come November. Looks like I might get to detect a bit in the Bath area. Can't wait. Keep it up and keep us drooling.

Bath is mega historic. In the Roman period they travelled there from mainland Europe.

Very nice hunt

Amazing, as usual. We only find the "new" stuff over here. Thanks for sharing.

I only have 1 other bronze unit ANDOCO in the collection which I found in 2010.(same type as above) When I recorded it with the Celtic Coin Index (CCI) it was the 38th one recorded at that time. It's sad that the CCI is not funded anymore so that we could plot our contribution to this national study. The PAS reference they now given them has broken the chain.

Some amazing finds. Congrats!

THANKS-ALL.

Looking forward to finishing off this edge tomorrow.

You are so lucky. Id love to be able to hunt over there one day. I'm would be exciting to have the possibility of finding things so old.

Thanks it is exciting.
Hunting over here is one thing, finding a site like this is another.:thumbsup: Land-Mag did some pretty good research to find this one, not as easy as some.
