Today we found out that 3 of our Roman Sites have had the oildseed rape disced up. Sadly they all looked too lumpy, however one of them looked slightly better than the rest & it seemed our best option.
It was hard to keep steady for 3hrs 15 minutes in the hot sun. The Cortes struggled to get anything & Dad had his worst day in a very long time - with just 1 musket ball to his name.
I did OK, but it's not the start we were hoping for & we will have to wait until the conditions improve.

10 Roman Coins
Roman Pot Shards
Circa 1900-1915 Saddlers button. Interesting as it was only a small family business, they must be a scarce find. Not valuable but a piece of family history, as not many buttons have a name on them.

Hey Cru, what can you tell me about that coin in the upper right of the last pic? Is that the design of a house or what? I'm surprised your Dad didn't come across any coins seeing how many you recovered.

cool history, really cool

Hey Cru, what can you tell me about that coin in the upper right of the last pic? Is that the design of a house or what? I'm surprised your Dad didn't come across any coins seeing how many you recovered.

It's called a 'Camp Gate', the entrance to a Roman fort. Its one of the Constantines.

With the ground so uneven (not flat), its very hard for Dad to hear these coins. Even when we are detecting the same area, side by side. This shows you the difference between the power of the Cortes & the power of the XP (with my settings).

PS. even in good conditions, its rare that Dad gets 50% of what I do, its normally about 30% or less. However, he does less detecting because he does all the GPSing.

Nice to see you got near all kinds of roman pottery. There are for sure regional differences, but there is not much missing exept the better tableware.
