Going thru my dig thrash from yesterday and this caught my eye, cleaned it up and Eagle looking at me, does have a flattened shank on the back. Could anyone give me any information of origin and date? Glad I didn't toss it. Thank you.

That’s a world war 1 or world war 2 USA coat button.

I cannot see a raised rim encircling the emblem, and if that is correct, your US Army "Great Seal" general-service uniform button dates from 1902 to 1910.
