Career in soils, earth science, pollution and remediation, dabbled in hydrology and vapor deposition of metals.
Now I'm tired....uh....retired. Really appreciate getting away (from the doctors) for a good treasure hunt.
Looking for like minded ghost town relic hunters, lost treasure seekers and folks that have TIME to explore.
Happy to have found this grand site ...... A most excellent collection of information ....... Right !?
Yea , life is good !......
I live near the US/Mexican border. The property on which I dwell is bisected with "The Old Stage Route" and near the Tecate Point of Entry.
There is much history here and artifact hunting can be exciting. Bullets, Bottles and Buckles are common finds. Alas, much of the access to the old trails is on private land . The old(and currently unused) Railroad can still be walked with detritus tossed to be found. On occasion, I come across an old settlers cabin melting back into the terrain.
Homeland security and the Border patrol field agents are not much help in pointing out sites as they are moved often for fear of collusion.
With the advent of Satellite images, I look for old trails/roads that had crossed the border , now blocked by the Fence.
Many battles took place in the area and the Buffalo Soldiers had a major stronghold nearby in Campo in Camp Lockett. This Camp has a long history, from the Spanish American war , right up to WW2 !
If anyone would like to poke around for a "poke" near the California Border , I'd like to have company !
THIS PIC is at an overlook , 100 feet North of the Mexican border....gunfire from the south..........
.....Mark.....
