Ultrasonic cleaner might shake the sand out.

All the ones that I have found I just wait till the sand is completely dry , give them a couple of taps and then get it turned (fingers) once it starts it will get easier and eventually all the sand will fall out and it will spin freely. ( While U R waiting 4 the sand 2 dry go find another) ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for the tips...Since I like things easy (hey no comments from the peanut gallery) I'll try letting it just dry out first. If that does not work I will look into Ultrasonic cleaner.

The one and only spinner I have found (so far) was all gritted up, like yours sounds to be.
Mine has 3 independent spinning bands and stainless steel.
As suggested let it dry out, and then shake. Ultrasonic sounds cool too, but I probably cleared most of the grit out of mine by working the bands under running water.

I don't know if this would work or not but what about the canned air? I use that stuff a lot and it's cheap to buy at Walmart or any office supply store.

After it dries out take the ring to your local mechanic and have him blow it out with his air hose.

I'd let it fully dry out and then stick it in the electronic cleaner, minus the liquid. I think its gentle vibration would loosen the dried sand and shake it out.
