Greetings All!

Well, I finally made it down to Ft. Myers area for a week for Turkey Day Family
Festivities. I will have time for at least three beach days but family says 1 day
Will be Sanibel for sure and another likely Captiva. I'm hoping to hit ft. Myers
And maybe Saratoga/Siesta Key if possible.

It **IS** a family event even though I'm the only MD'er so I'm only sure of
Sanibel and/or Captiva for now. I have my Excal II along with scuba shoes, gloves,
Prescription googles and snorkel, etc. So far, haven't even seen beach yet.

My questions are: Is it worth it to pack the Excal. II along to Sanibel and/or
Captiva? Is it worth it to get it in shallow water or just work the beach?

Finally, any other advice on Ft. Myers locations would be most welcome.

Wishing all a happy and healthy Thanksgiving,

Andrew

anywhere there are people - there gonna be finds - would be very surprised if any one is gonna mark X anywhere for you
but good luck

there's a handful of guys here down there - have you thought of just asking for someone to hook up?

Ok....here goes....
The southern tip by the lighthouse has 3 that I know of lost rings, courtesy of Craigslist...
One or them has a 2,000$ reward from this girl who lives in the Carolinas....Ihavent checked c-list lately, there may be more....
If by chance you are staying at Casa Ybel, don't waste your time in the dry sand a mile in either direction....it's been pounded by a guy I know, he never finds anything....
Best chance....were it me, would be to go up to blind pass, just over the bridge as you get onto Captiva Island....that's where the tourists go.....
Good luck.....
P.S.... red tide is blooming, if you get a scratchy, crap feeling in your chest....it will clear up after a few days.

I suggest you do some research. I spend time in that area a couple of times a year. Ft. Myers beach is full of can slaw and everything sounds like a nice "low tone" ring and I hear and read the same is true of Sanibel and captiva. I would much rather be in the Naples area. Got this ring last January there ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1479607841.749326.webp. Happy Hunting

Beach renurishment in Naples

Thanks for getting back all.

Hope I didn't sound too lazy it's just that I've never been to any of these beaches.
So I wasn't sure what possibilities to expect or even if it's worth the bother. This
Group always has the latest news such as beach replenishment on a specific beach.

Thank you,

Andrew

Last time hunted Sanibel it was one silver earring and a pile of sinkers.
Happy hunting!

Been to both places, southern tip by the lighthouse and Blind Pass. There's 2 beaches at Blind Pass. I'd imagine they'd be good, but haven't seen rich touri like in Ft. Myers-Naples.

Pleasant places though. Wish I were there.

Been hunting the area all week. Lots of aluminum and no gold or silver yet...
