This photo was taken in 1944. Coil detector was mounted on a rifle bayonet ..

I noticed that. Very cool!
Not like the ones we have now!
Although I think I only used army issued detector during one mission hunting cache sites (in iraq).

Because of the overall composition and contrast it looks like a pro shot it. Maybe for training purposes.
