Me and a buddy hit a old townsite Saturday that was settled in the 1820's and was occupied by both the confederate and union armies. During WWII this same area had target practice strafeing areas. The site is huge....and the signals few. My buddy kicked my %^&....we just got out of the truck...he takes about 5 steps and hollers "Paydirt!". Civil war geraral service button in perfect shape....ended up being the best found that day...although he found two more. Here are just four types of the many bullets we dug that day. This three ringer is cut on and looks like it was stuck in the barrel...the smallest bullet, we have no clue as to what it is. The longer two are 30 cal and 50 cal machine gun rounds of which we found many. We only pulled one coin also...a 1869 shield nickle.

Nice bullets ! I'm trying to learn my bullets, I think the small one is called a semiwadcutter. Age ? uncertain. It sounds like a good place you guys are hunting !!

"A semiwadcutter or SWC is a type of all purpose bullet commonly used in revolvers. The SWC combines features of the wadcutter target bullet and traditional round nosed revolver bullets, and is used in both revolver and pistol cartridges for hunting, target shooting, and plinking."
