Saturday's search

I spent Saturday searching for a Civil War Confederate camp site and sorta found it. It is on a hunting club's property. I was given permission to hunt the site but declined to do it as Saturady was opening day of spring turkey season.
Also, the area was just logged and the road toward the camp is impassable right now. I did get to hunt an old homesite about 300 yards from the camp for about 30 minutes.
I found a small buckle and a flat button. The button is a plain front with backmark that reads "standard colour, treble gilt"
I know what treble gilt means but what does "standard colour" refer to? I think I have another button that has rich colour on the back.

Re: Saturday's search

These were exported to the States by the British and were used during the first quarter of the 19th Century.

Re: Saturday's search

Oops....didn't really answer your question: Standard Colour is and English spelling that simply is just another way of saying triple plated either in gold or silver.
