Good evening, Just getting started in this new hobby/addiction. I love the history and the mystery of this obsession. I bought an AT Pro to get started and using a Garrett PP and an old long bladed shovel. I am developing my want/need list for more gear. Hunted the south side of beach in Garden Grove area near Myrtle this past weekend. Weather was too calm but beach was great. Located in Lexington area of SC. Looking to learn.

First get a good pinpointer minelab 35 maybe then water shoes for your feet, not to get cut with glass, you can't see under your feet. HH P.S. Good sunhat.

Welcome Aboard! Take a look at Sub-Forums: South Carolina for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

You've found a great place for information and fellow treasure hunters -- welcome to our community!

I am also a SC Newbie I just retired and live near the beach in Hilton Head. I have an AT Pro also and have been concentrating on the beach at low tide. Mostly found coins and cheap jewelry, but I am just getting started. I would like to hunt any available Civil War or Revolutionary sites close to my area. Please let me know if anyone needs a hunting partner.

Welcome to the forum!

Purchase a good quality hand digger. I use the Predator tools: Raptor Model 31C. You want to have something small (no shovel) when you are detecting parks, playgrounds...etc.
