I found this Guilford (I think) today while out looking for shark teeth. Measurements are 3 5/8 long by 1 7/8 wide, found at the waters edge, Potomac river tributary.

It looks like a piece that was left unfinished due to a failure to get it thin enough. Is it rather thick?
 

It looks like a preform to me--yet to be transformed into it's final form.
 

I can't imagine trying to knap a rock that rough. East coast Indians were desperate for good raw material. Gary
