I haven’t found much worth mentioning lately and this little dime is pretty slicked but she is a first for me so I am pumped! I went to a park near a piece of property I rent out that used to have an old high school on it. The park is quite large and the city has a pool there also. I had 30 minutes before I had to start the drive back to DC so I decided to hunt around entrance to pool area to see what was there and how trashy it was. I started popping clad left and right and only had gone about 15 feet when I got and iffy 80-83 signal on my AT Pro, I popped the plug and about four inches down I see a very thin round thing, I pick it up and could just make out the head and a saw “one dime” on the back, my FIRST Barber!!! I know she not very pretty but she is mine! Under the magnifying glass you can read the date 1897! I can’t wait to get back to that park and find me a few more bucket listers! Good luck and HH.

Congratulations BH!! I was born in D.C. and lived in Maryland just about my whole life. Every time I drive through D.C. I think of all the good coins and relics that still await. Nice Job :icon_thumright:

Congratulations. Great find. :icon_thumright:

Congrats!!!! It took me FOREVER to find my first Barber dime. I’d go hunting with a buddy of mine and he would pop 3 or 4 per hunt and all I would find is clad, then I finally found one and that monkey is off my back (; 1908-s, just sayin.
Great job

I know, the problem is it is very hard to detect in DC, so much is National Park land or City and detecting is forbidden. I can't imagine all that is under the National Mall!

Well done! Doesn’t matter how they look, you aren’t selling haha. Nicely done!!

congrats fella!!

Congrats on the first! :occasion14:

Not to mention all the Union troops on every corner of that joint!!!! Need to have an organized hunt down there :tongue3:

Silver; Barber with a Date? Nothing wrong with that! Congrats on your first Barber Dime! :occasion14:

Congrats it took me awhile to find a Barber dime so I know the feeling of excitement this probably sparked!

Congrats on your first Barber BH....:icon_thumright:

Awesome save BH, Congrats!!! "D"

Congrats on your first Barber coin. Slick or not, you are right it's yours, and at least there is enough detail to identify it.

Always a great feeling to find a bucket lister:hello2: Like you, I went a long time before I found a Barber anything. One day I was detecting w/ my DFX near a former cabin site and got a faint signal next to a tree root. I passed the coil over the same spot in different directions and sometimes I hear it and other times not. I dug down 5" and found a 1902 Barber Dime on its edge. Best of luck on finding your next bucket lister!

Congrats on your first Barber!

Very nice!! Congrats on the Barber!
