Last week Dad spent 2 hours trying a new field with just 1 hammered to show. Although a long shot, I wanted to run the XP over this large area & see what was about.
Within about 40 minutes I sniffed out 2 scrappies & a hammered qrter & Dad got the Fibula. By the end of the 2 hour hunt, that was about it. It was a very quiet field, little lead, little pot shards, & little nails.

Hammered cut Qrter of Henry III

1st C AD Roman Fibula

My conclusion is we are 1-2 fields from a Roman Site, more exploring needed. Lets hope it's on the land we have permission for, as 1 of the neighbouring fields is not ours to search.

Your zeroing in on it ...

If that is just the start of the good stuff .......can,t wait to see what you guys pull outta there !!!

Is the neighbouring field promised to someone else or just a no-go for permission ?

Wish you luck to have that site on you land! You will sniff that out! And the finds didn't look that bad for detecting in june! :occasion14:

Congrats on some more really nice finds! Heck, your' and Crudad's scouting trip finds are better than many other folk's finds in months or even years!

The next door field we have permission for is in crop, so it will have to wait until harvest. Although when harvest comes, it will be bottom of the list.

The other field we have no idea who owns it. We maybe able to find out, but we have bigger fish to fry.
