Scuff?

Whats the point of the "scuff cover"? Will the detector eventually work less well if one is not used? Is it just to maintain the looks? If it's just for looks it reminds me of a guy that bought a 4 whell drive truck but wouldnt take it out mudding because it would get dirty? Seriously, whats the point??

I would say looks if you were planning on selling it in the future. But otherwise it helps to keep your coil safe from wear. Some places people hunt are very abrasive. If you are just hunting grass, then no big deal. The scuff is cheaper than a new coil. To each their own.
