Although I would have liked to gotten out in this great weather today I had to work , so it was yesterday I had a couple hours to hunt the wood line of a field that has been giving up many coins, 8 pre 1820 coins so far. Some days it's " on the walk out " that you find that coin ? this day it was three feet into my hunt. I was using my Minelabs and it indicated very strong. After digging down a few inches I passed the coil over the hole and nothing, however in the pile of dirt the signal was strong and I figured a recent dropped coin. Much to my surprise this 1818 penny is what appeared. I think it may have been only an inch or two in the ground. This was to be my only find on this outing but I'll leave smiling with any large copper !!
