The last few hunts have not really been anything special, but yesterday I found an unusual silver item (at least unusual to me). I went back to the old high school and had a lot of luck with coins, 120 in 5 hours with a face value of $8.20, the top of a brass instrument valve, a cheer button, a shaker top, a wheatie and a piece of some kind of junky bling.
The shaker top is probably from a small salt and pepper set. It is marked sterling and has seen better days. Not a super find, but silver is silver so I’ll take it.
The other hunts were good, just not worth posting by themselves. There were 2 hunts at the scout camp. Hunt 1 with 170 coins and a face value of $12.12, 90 pegs, 2 neckerchief slides, fishing stuff, a Sacajawea dollar, a dime shot with a 22 and an old axe head.
Hunt 2 at camp I found 146 coins with a face value of $12.37, 74 pegs, 1 neckerchief slide, an unusual sinker for this area, a coke pin, and a square aluminum ingot.
I had a short hunt at a park in town and just found clad, 21 coins with a face value of $1.66.
I went back on campus and again mostly clad, 46 coins with a face value of $2.69, part of a toy car and a cool old pin. It’s brass and depicts a cowboy on a horse swinging a lasso. The pin back is missing, but it looks cool. Maybe it is Roy Rogers or Gene Autry. I can’t find a match for it on line.
So a lot of gas money, plenty of cold fresh air (mostly in the low to mid 30s lately) and some interesting finds to keep me going. Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things. Good luck and keep warm.
