Shark Tooth Hunting in Florida Again

We got out for another fossil hunting trip looking for shark teeth on dirt roads here in Florida. It was a HOT day, but thankfully, a storm moved in and cooled it off a bit. We found a mostly complete juvenile megalodon tooth, a great white shark tooth, a ton of whale bone, shells, etc.

Calcite crystals growing inside of an echinoid (sea urchin) fossil.


Some of the shark teeth from the end of the day...Mostly broken, but still a blast to find.

Prehistoric treasure hunting...I love it.

Awesome finds. We are taking a trip to the bay in Maryland this summer to look for sharks teeth. Hopefully it will be successful.

That’s where we are going. As a kid I went there numerous times to find fossils for my science fair project. Now I’m taking my kids.

That's great, RiverRat3! It was my parents taking me looking for stuff that instilled a lifelong passion for it, and through the pursuit of fossils, I've gained an even deeper appreciation for nature and science.
