Freed from the prison of iron debris, she stood there looking at me... Filthy, thin and ragged from decades of travel and abuse. Now she stands tall and shiny ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1527367141.241671.webp among prized treasures!

Lost in the iron. Passed over by a hundred coils! Alas, low numbers. Choppy signal. Nothing to see here. Move along...

"Help..." she cried, from eight inches down. "Please... someone..."

But to no avail. Lady Liberty continued her darkened slumber, jolted up and down with the thaw and frost, soaked by the rain, visited only by worms...

Decades passed. Wars were fought. Man reached the moon... and still, nothing.

But then... a beacon of hope!

"Hang on," said the Equinox at last. "I'm coming!"

And there she was in the palm of your hand... a century's worth of dirt falling away. Her silver surface shining like white fire, as the eagle on the back stretched its mighty wings once more.

"Those square nails are a *****, aren't they?" said the Equinox.

Lady Liberty only smiled into the sun.

"They sure are baby... they sure are..."

Bravo!

Nice bit of romantic prose. Quite dramatic. I would like to hear what composition forms in your mind for a Zincoln. LOL

Nice coin and nice write-up. Congratulations on the find!

It is always nice to rescue a Standing Liberty Quarter.

Thanks everyone! This coin wasn't just any SLQ, she was my first silver quarter ever! Hopefully there are more in my future. GL&HH!

The SLQ is a beautiful coin, and you've pulled a nice one! What a heart-stopper that must have been for you - congrats on a great experience and a great find!
