I went to the old church first this afternoon. The site produced dozens of indians and many shield and v nicks last year but only one silver. More of the same this time with 4 more indians :BangHead: All but one are toast too. Typical for this site as well. I went to the seated field later and was able to get two more indians. One being the really nice 1874. My best find was shield nickel #7 from here in a clump of dirt next to a previous hole. Must have forgot to recheck my hole on a past hunt.

Finding anything in this field at this point is a fun find. Im hoping the plow brings new life to it in the fall. Im not even finding much trash out there anymore

Gotcha. I have a couple spots like that but unfortunately mine will never be plowed. I mainly go back to those for the memories and if I find something, it's like you said ; it's a fun find.

Cheers

Congrats on digging those 7 keepers. Don't ya just love digging old coins.

Thanks. Digging old coins is sweet but Id rather be digging old coins that are 90% silver

Very nice saves!!! Good looking spot ya have! :icon_thumleft:

Nice haul on the old coins....:occasion14:

I love finding Indians, but unfortunately most of mine come up toasted as well. Found more than 70 so far this year. A buddy pulled an 1877 on Saturday and I pulled a decent (as they go) 1859 and 1865.

I noticed you get a lot of indians. Ive found at least 70 this year as well. The conditions vary greatly on them. No 1877 yet though. No 69,71,72, 73 either
