Metal Detecting
Met a fellow detectorist on the beach earlier in the week. (Outer Banks) We shared some tips and eventually decided to meet up later in the week to hit the remote beaches only accessible via 4wd. Goal here was to uncover true treasure, shipwreck treasure!

Well Doubloons are a little more difficult to find than we hoped. Lots of can slaw fragments and some other items. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1492118378.173143.webp

He found a really big bullet, not shown, and I found 2. I'm thinking these may be military? The one encrusted shot from the beach during training (ww2) and washed back in over time, maybe .ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1492118500.595135.webp

Then we hit some beaches back in Corolla that were picked clean, except for an ancient shipwreck we discovered...ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1492118562.754486.webp

Actually I think this is an old shipwreck, but I'm sure we were the 10,000th people to discover it. Checked with the detectors around it but just more can slaw.

Good luck out there!

Yeap 50 cal WWII most likely used in the browning machinegun. If its black tipped, I think its Armour piercing.

Correct, except I think its armor. :laughing7::occasion14:

Lots of those beach heads around the outer banks were bombing ranges back in the day. If your on a remote section wouldn't be surprised to see some off target drops show up
