Got out for a few hours today. I dug a 1940 merc and an 1896 Indian. I also dug this silver colored ring that has what looks like a turquoise stone. It doesn't say sterling or 925 so I don't know what it's really made of. It did ring high in the VDI of my DFX, but I don't know for sure. Any thoughts of it's composition or age based in looks/design? Thanks for looking!!

Nice digs, I'd bet that ring is silver, someone once posted a method of testing with aluminum foil, but I can't remember the details, anyhow...cool digs!

Nice finds! Cool looking ring!
You may want to get a test kit for silver and gold, looks like your going to be needing it! Congrats!

Msbeepbeep is right, although I still have not got a test kit yet? Don't ask me why. That is a cool looking ring, if it is silver it will shine up with a baking soda paste rub, it will shine up so bright you'll know in a second. Nice coins too. I really can't say for sure but it looks like the ring is silver, sometimes it can be so worn the marks are gone?

Nice finds congrats on the merc.

Nice finds. IHCs and Mercs are two of my favorite coins to find. And a ring too. NICE.

The ring sure looks like silver to me. GL&HH

Nice digs, I say silver too.
