I wouldn't be a true Brit without talking about the weather first; the sun was shinning & its unnaturally warm for this time of year, spotted 2 butterflies today, that's not right!
Anyways, Plan A was to continue with ''The Hill'' but as we drove past this field which was freshly deep ploughed we couldn't resist seeing what had come up. When I looked at the edge cut the plough had gone closer to 15" than 12", so a really big turn, & it fell relatively flat although had a lot of air in it, so lost depth. It basically made the Site new again, & we may end up with more this year than the first year we did it. As it turned out the 5.5 hours gave us the best 1 day total this year for Roman Bronze Coins, beating 39. Odd that we couldn't get a Roman Silver but all the other silver fell to my coil, like the last 2 outings, so Cru'dad must be saving his response for a super find!

45 Roman Bronze Coins (2 holed)
Roman Ring Bezel
Roman Furniture Finial
Squashed Medieval Thimble
Broken Roman Fibula
Roman Oval Brooch with Glass insert (first time we have had a complete one - Cru'dads dig)
1817 Sixpence
4 Hammered - 2 Lizzy Half Groats, Unknown Penny, King John Cut Half

Love the oval brooch with glass insert still intact! 45 bronze...4 hammered.... I'm not sure what to say... I've been rendered speechless. :)

Big congratulations 👍

Great day was had Crusader, well done.
Liking the brooch

awesome finds. When my uncle was stationed in England and digging Roman coins and whatnots, he once dug a Roman brooch with a colored glass jewel similar to that.

He done well with that one then. The mercury solder tends to give way after years of being in the ground & then it dry's out.

Really great finds Crusader. You and Cru'Dad keep out-doing yourselves. The Roman brooch is quite soemthing. Finding one with the glass intact is remarkable!
