Shot in the dark, Marine tin back

Anyone on this forum ever dig a tin back Marine Corps Coat button and get it identified?

I dug a 22mm convex 2 piece and since it is a tin back, or in this case a rust back. I can't seem to find out much information on who would have made a tin back as this is the first one I have ever seen. No mention of it in any of the research books I have.

Haven't heard of a CW era tinback marine but you never know. A pic would help. Try Dan Binder - he's a real expert.
