If you want to hunt sidewalk/street repairs/replacements,just go to the city hall and check out the city's schedule,it's open to everyone.Smaller towns,you probably have to check the courthouse.You can also find any demolitions planned.These schedules are usually planned a few wks in advance.

In my town, if you see a pulic spot where a sidewalk was removed, you better get it today because they form and pour the next.

Haven't tried one yet, but my town is a 24 hour turn-around also. If the detector is not in the car it will be covered before I get back.

Missed one last week that I saw on my lunch break. brought the md the next day and the workers were pouring conc.

That's why it's good to look at their schedule ahead of time of which ones they will be doing and when.
