I did a door knock at an old 1700s house that I have been eyeing up for a while now. It just looked like there would be good stuff in the ground. The second target was the Standing Liberty (second ever) so I got super excited. Came back across that area and I popped out the Large Cent (another first for me this year.) The largie and quarter were within 8 inches of each other. The owner then proceeded to tell me that the entire property was backfilled. The only spot that wasnt was where those 2 coins came out of. I can only imagine what else is in that yard under all of the fill dirt.

Congrats on the SLQ, merc and draped bust LC looks like a good day to me

very sweet! SLQ are still on my bucket list, don't know if I could find the LC around here. yeah, you will always wonder about what lies below the fill, but it's still worth trying anyways

Looks like a great door knock!!

Congrats on a couple of great coins. I think its time to knock on that door with a Bobcat scraper in tow next time !

Nice hunt and finds! Hope it continues for you!

Man, you nailed it! Congrats!

Thank you everybody. Totally made my day with the Large Cent. It has taken me almost 4 years to finally find one.

That's the kind of thing that would keep me tossing and turning at night. Hell, I've been hitting a farm established in 1679 all summer long, and most of my finds are in one concentrated non-backfilled area. The rest of the farm... I can only imagine what's under there, just a few inches further down!

Great finds though! Still waiting on my first SLQ. Anyone know where it is so I can go pick it up?

Really good haul of old coins......but man!!! I'm like Shakakka. I would lose sleep over the thought of all that treasure just buried under all that fill dirt ???.
