I've been hunting a thick wooded area for a couple years with some success. Lots of brush and fallen limbs. Its close to the National Road thou so its one of my favorite spots. Yesterday after four hours of digging every signal I found a few early tokens when I got a clean crisp high tone. It sounded good. An 1892 o barber about four inches down. Looks to be in good shape under the stains. I rinsed it lightly under water with a q-tip and a little dish soap and put it right in the jacket. I left the stains but it was hard. :BangHead: Also a 1904 watch fob. Google says its from the 1904 World's Fair. Good Hunting and hope everyone has a good year!

Congrats on your Barber quarter & tokens!

I can't view the pics either.

Oh man, great bunch of finds! Love the Barber - O mint mark- that's cool. It looks worth the work to me. WTG!

sweet, congrats

Nice haul! Barbers are always nice!

The 1904 tag looks more like a baggage tag than a fob. Just my thinking anyway.

I also thought it was a baggage tag. In fact when I looked it up I was trying to find out what type of baggage tag it was. Here,s a link to another version of the fob.http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTIQUE-BRA...E-PIKE-WATCH-FOB-W-LEATHER-BAND-/191176408127 While I was reading I found out it was actually originally called "The Louisiana Purchase Exposition". I didn't know that. Louisiana Purchase Exposition - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I also found this site showing a virtual tour of the fair with a lot of vintage photo's.1904 World's Fair Virtual Tour - a collection of pictures from the 1904 Fair Thanks for the token ID Mackaydon. I found it in Terre Haute. I find a lot of tokens around this area. I love this town. A lot of history. The National Road comes through this town. I actually live about 12 miles north of here. This is the second World's Fair souvenir I've found. I bet it was a big deal back in the day.

Very cool finds, silver and tokens, niceeeeee.

Nice finds like the barber...

Great group of finds there! Congrats on a good ID on the FOB, I too would have immediately thought luggage tag. Your Barber dime looks to be in great shape, but it's not a key date so if you want you can get a little more aggressive on the cleaning. You could try the baking soda and foil method to remove some of the black without putting any scratches on it. It also still has a little bit of grime, so a hot water soak to help soften that up enough to be easily removed.

Thanks, I agree. I like that method. I used it on another silver awhile back and it brought out a lot of detail under the stains. No rubbing involved.

Very nice selection of found relics!
