silver coin spill in battle creek

I hunted some property on the banks of the kalamazoo river yesterday. I found the half and the dimes all in the same hole along with a shell casing. my first half dollar thanks for looking all HH

nice job on the barber half dollar! It is in really nice condition except for the G carved into it. Why does it have a G carved into it? First initial of someones name?

yeah I'm not exactly sure why they stamped it, probably either for identification/advertisment or maybe silversmiths testing their punches. maybe someone else would know for sure

Congratulations on the silver, that 1916 S barber dime is worth a few bucks! about $20 I'd say.
