This is a hypothetical question about silver coins. If you were to find and collect 22.8 pounds of differing silver US mint coins over a period of ten years and then decided to cash in on them,How would you go about doing it? Sell for the silver content spot price ,try and sell them seperately,or bank roll them for the silver content?

Hypothetical? 22.8lbs seems specific ;) I'd just go to a LCS/Craigslist/Ebay, and sell part by part. Like for example, sell halves to a person who collects halves. Dimes to a dime collector.. see what I'm saying?
Best of luck!

Hypothetical or not, your best bet would be to go through each denomination and sort out any key dates/mint marks/errors, and try to sell those separately. Also might want to sell some in lots by condition... E.g. Rolls of really nice looking coins would bring a premium, the rest you can roll and sell at spot as scrap silver.

This need not be hypothetical as long as you don't try to solicit buyers here on TNet.

If you wish to do that you'd need to buy a charter membership.

If you had hypothetical pictures of such amounts of silver coins, could you hypothetically share them? ;)

I'm sure more than a few would be drooling over such a beautiful thing.

If i hypothetically had that much silver,Id hypothetically share the photos,It was just a question guys.lol

Well first Id have to calculate how many women I could purchase with each pound of silver. Then I'll go from there.

What i meant by bankrolling it for silver content was hitting up the old safety deposit box for a quick deposit.

Wrap all the silver coins up then come to my pickup bank and drop them off for face value.
Let me know when you are about to do it.

Honestly, sell them on ebay. People on ebay pay $20 plus shipping for a regluar $10 roll of half dollars the kind your local bank branch might have on hand and would give you for $10, no lie. Sometime they pay more than $20 a lot more. Sell the nicest coins individually or in small groups 2 to 5 coins. Sell the strickly junk silver coins in groups of 10 coins. You will get better than spot value plus may even make a little money on shipping potentially if you are smart about it.

Just be mindful of the fees charged by Ebay and Paypal

Dump 'em at TD! hypothetically of course
