My wife let me spend the whole day Father's Day detecting, sadly I totally busted, only 79 cents in clad. I snuck out tonight for an hour after I put the little one to bed, and managed a handful of pennies, this silver dime, and a nice little sterling ring. I think the stone is glass?

Any time MD'ng is a good day J.Cache.

Well, clearly the lesson learned here is that sneaking out briefly results in good silver finds, while openly detecting all day results in zero, lol. :tongue3: :laughing7: Your silver ring has nice design. :icon_thumleft: While the stone may be glass, it could be aquamarine or similar semi-precious stone. HAVE FUN! Andi

thats an awesome ring!

nice ring and dime im still looking for the silver i found wheaties and buffalo and 1940 nickles but no silver yet..

nice score! That's a metal detectorist dream on Father's day to just let you go hunt! Way to go!

Beautiful ring. Given the huge stone, my guess would be glass, but you can have some surprises with quality silver rings, so you could have a jeweler check it out.

Thanks guys. I found a very similar ring last year, the stone was exactly the same other than it was more on the blue side. My father in law, who is a major rock hound, thought it could be aquamarine too. I will have to get them checked out!

Oh yeah ! Nice finds - I really love the ring , I don't care if it's glass or better , it's beautiful ! is the coin 80% silver ?

Yep, 80% silver, 20% copper. Luckily in Canada we had silver coins made up to and including 1968!
