I had gained permission to hunt a private yard earlier this summer, but it has been too dang hot to do much of any kind of hunting this summer. And besides, the ground was like concrete and I didn't want to kill what was left of the guys lawn. well, we had gotten about 3 days worth of rain and it is supposed to be in the lower 50's and very wet tomorrow, so I went today. A little history of the place. It is a Craftsman house built in 1949, the lot measures 100 ft. X 300 ft. A total of 9 children were raised there, and the owner is in his 70's and goes to our church. I started out in the small front yard, only got pennies in the 70's. Went out by the rural mailbox and dug the silver spoon near the curb. Went out back, and the yard was a virtual dump (underground that is) dug many broken long neck brown bottles, old broken coke bottles, a silver plated handle off a hand held mirror (plating gone), an old zinc Mason jar lid with porcelain seal still intact, 2 wheat pennies, two marbles, all kinds of brass and copper plumbing pieces, toy cars and trucks. When I showed the owner all the stuff I found, he said I could keep it all including the spoon, I said, all I want is the spoon, and I gave him everything else, including a special surprise. I found his car keys to his long gone 1964 Ford Fairlane, you should have seen his eyes light up
. He asked where I found them, I told him right where he lost them, next to the stone driveway down about 4 inches. The yard is so big, that I will return for a more thorough search in the near future. Because I didn't have my camera with me, I only have pics of the teaspoon........NGE
