hey guys, went out today with a couple guys from a metal detecting club. Im not a member yet but they were nice enough to take me on a hunt that they got permission for. The site seemed promising but my finds were minimal. The guy who got permission found a large cent though, I think it was 1839. We found out afterwards that the spot has been hit hard over the past year. Anyhow, they were tired around 130 and wanted to go home, I still had a craving that wasnt relieved with my finds lol.
So I did a little driving looking for that perfect old country home and low and behold i found a decent one. Nice older woman and her neice lived there and granted me permission without hesitation. I only had 2 hrs to hit this HUGE yard so i focused my attention on the front yard. After getting my permission and gearing up, I headed right for the slate sidewalk and BAM my very first hit was only about 4 inches down and was right against the sidewalk It is was a half cent with a hole in it!!!!
and of course the picture is lousy and the date is worn right off but its my first and Im more than happy with it. Found 16 wheats, a 1901 IH, and a 1953 rosie, the keys, an old hinge, some heavy shiny ball of some sort, a couple buttons, a rifle shell with "U" on it, some broach thing, and the emblem that says "DOVER lady mixer" on it
not quite sure what that is. I got permission to come back whenever and Will be going back to cover more soon. Thanks for looking and HH!!
