A specific weight measurement and calculation may help. It requires an accurate scale that can measure the weight of the item in air, and the weight of the item while submerged (suspended by a thread) in water. If it is entirely silver the calculated numbers using the specific weight of silver should match.

I’ll probably take it to the gold shop when I take some other pieces in. This was found on a gravel road after they hauled in river rocks and dumped them everywhere. I had the idea maybe I could snag a gold nugget. I wasn’t expecting silver.
 

Looks like the fire ring "nuggets" I find at the beach from people throwing their cans in the fire.
