Today I dug a pocket knife that I'm pretty sure has real silver side
pieces ~ it's marked "830 BH". I assume that means it's 83% silver,
right? Anyone know what BH means? The poor thing fell all apart when I
recovered it ~ the middle part rusted all away leaving just the silver
side pieces.

Silver 830/1000 (silver that is used in the Nordic countries, often called Coin Silver in the US)

Probebly Bernhard Hertz (BH) Bernhard Hertz of Copenhagen (late 1800s early 1900s)

That's a sweet little find. I found a gold pocket knife this past fall but never silver. I do have one with silver bolsters...again, nice find.
