silver question....

i'm a collector just getting started and i was wondering from what dates the eisenhower dimes were made of silver. i have heard that they stopped making them of silver on a certain date but cant remember what year it was. was the same thing done about nickles? thanks

meant roosevelt dime. please excuse me, i was up late last night

Silver was removed from dimes in 1964 and nickels were made with copper, silver and manganese from Oct. 8, 1942 through the end of 1945. Here is some great reading on the different coins from the U.S. http://www.oldcoinshop.com/coinhistory/index.php. HH.
