Today I was given permission to hunt a fellow volunteer firefighters yard. Dug 4 mercury dimes one rosey one 1936 d quarter and 1907 V nickel. Also a bunch of Wheaties. Also some sort of object ..maybe you can help me identify.

Wow! That is a month's worth of silver for me! Great job getting those beauties out of the ground! Unfortunately, I am no help as to what that item is. "Things" aren't really my "thing". Fortunately, every person on this site is a wealth of information about different items.

Looks like an old spinning top that you would wrap a string around the shaft and pull

Nice bunch of coins, what a great yard!

Looks like a top to me also, great hunt!

great silvers, think you got part of a toy gyroscope--popular toy in the '50's

I don't think I would let that yard get away. That is lots of silver. Congrats! The toy is neat, it does look like a top.

Awesome permission, congrats on pulling all those keepers. :occasion14: 6 silvers and a V make for a great hunt in my book.

Tony,

Good going on the silvers.

Gyroscope for sure. Have an identical one from my dads childhood.

Actually the second time I hunted his yard.. he told me his wife was planting flowers in the front yard last spring and "old coins" kept digging up. First time I was there I dug about 6 Mercury's a buffalo and another silver qtr. .leaky pockets maybe..maybe just tossed coins into the yard for luck.. don't know..

Congrats on the silvers, that was a very productive hunt

I could use a hunt like that. Awesome job

I have dug the same gyroscope as well...cool find! Congrats on the silvers and coins!

A six silver hunt is a great hunt. Nice.

They may not be very old, but that's a very nice silver day. Would make anyone happy.
