Hello all,

Hunted yesterday along some curb strips in an old part of town. Had about 4 different people come up and ask about the hobby, one of which was a mom with a couple of girls while I was digging an 11-24 under some roots and just decimated a poor tootsie toy car nearly ripping it in half, that hurt. Got 6 wheaties, the oldest ones 1919, 1925 and 1929. The Merc is a 1939-P; got a flattened piece of round metal I initially didn’t know what it was but gave it a rub and saw the wreath on the back with once cent in the middle and sure enough, turned it over and could make out part of the face and headdress of an Indian head cent! A lot of copper wiring from these curb strips as they’re under power lines.

Love those Mercury dimes. And a 1939 too! Every time I see 1939, reminds me of my mother telling of when she and a girlfriend went down to the 1939 Worlds Fair in NYC when they were 18.

Way ta got. Congratulations :icon_thumright:

Great hunt. Love the Merc and wheats!

Good stuff man! Looks like you did well. Sheesh that Indian got mashed

Nice hunt - congrats! Do you think hunting in such public view might lead to some new prospective sites / permissions?

Yes, although if I see a yard I like I will for sure knock and ask permission, the yards in this neighborhood are very small because it’s quite hilly.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Well done, congrats! :icon_thumleft:
