Today we got rained out at work and it became a decent day so I snuck out for a few hours on my second hunt of the year.

The day started slow in a farm field permission so I aborted that mission and headed to an old spot I have and that too was slow until the end when I Dug my first sliver quarter of the year. I decided to hit a new spot next. A small park in an old town. I got the itch to crank the disc up and clad hunt for a while. Had a super sweet high tone and it ended up being a sterling silver spoon! I got the usual couple bucks in change and headed out.

My next spot is one I've hunted a ton. I slowed my sweep speed down in a super trashy spot and started digging some non ferrous goods. Had a jumpy signal I could tell was being masked by iron so I dug......about 8" down was a large cent in the hole! It's pretty wiped but I'm going to try and get a date off it. Looks to be a matron head. The last dig was an 1887 (I think) IHP. It's pretty ugly too! I also dug two pocket knives, a heart pendant, cuff button, old spoon handle and a couple buckles. All and all it was a fun day and just glad to be able to get out and dig due to the warm up in the Northeast. GL, HH. All.

Absolutely. It's actually pretty cool because the last name on the back is also a street in the town. Love the personal items.

In case you didn't know it, a competent jeweler normally has someone in house or uses someone who restores sterling hollow ware and flatware. I had a nasty, torn and twisted silver spoon restored late last year and it turned out great. It was not cheap, but now it looks new and is 100% functional.

Thanks for the heads up! Would be really neat to have done even for a display type of thing.
