Silver UMax or Vaquero?

Trying to decide which one. Will be detecting in all metal mode. Does anyone know if these are real all metal mode or if they just work by using 0 discrimination?
Also whats the difference between thses two? I dont need discrimination but want something with excellent dpeth and sensitivity.
Was thinking of getting a 12 inch coil also.
Detector would be used on archaeological site in Greece hence all metal and need for sensitivity as we will mark all targets. There is no junk on the site and we dont need any whiz bang electronics that tell us if its a dime or a quarter.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

The uMax with the 12" coil gets great depth as I suggested elsewhere, but you cannot manually ground balance the uMax like you can the Vaquero. I don't know whether or not that will be an issue for you in Greece.

If you want to stick with the Tesoro brand, maybe you should look at the Tejon. Manual ground balance with great depth.

If you want to look at other brands, the White's Sierra Madre is worth considering. It's one of the most overlooked deep seekers out there. I'd don't know if you will find a deeper penetrating detector anywhere. I have literally heard of depths approaching two feet, and that is said with a straight face. It has no discrimination, but you said you were going to hunt in all metal mode anyway. I believe the price on it is still under $500.

I'd be interested to hear what others think on this issue.

If you are talking relics, go with the Vaquero. The ground balance is helpful, its deep and sensative.

Thanks guys. I think we will get the Vaquero as its just within budget whereas the Sierra Madre would be nice its just over budget from what I can find searching the web.
Now I just need to find someone who can ship international. Unfortunately Kellyco dont ship Tesoro outside USA

Check out the forum member named "woodlands detectors". Mike is a great guy to work with. That's who I bought my Vaquero from. He can tell you if it is possible to get a Tesoro detector shipped to your location. And as others have said, the Vaquero is definitely better than the Silver uMax for your intended purpose.

Once you had ground balanced, I would crack it over the line in Discrimination under iron. It will be a lot easier to use, may save batteries, and will still pick up the small iron.. All metal drives me wild, and after a while, I did not see any use for it...Talking Vaquero...Also, you don't want it shipped directly from some box store with out being checked to make sure it is working properly..I had that happen to me, The detector didn't work, and it screwed my vacation up. Was never able to get back and check things out..A second screw up and never a third.. ORDER EXTRA BATTERIES..
