Small 2 piece swiveling arm thing

Thanks for looking, I found this arm / fist on the beach, it's a 2 piece thing, the flat metal piece you see on the reverse swivels. Any ideas? I think it's made of brass, I have found other things on this beach from the mid 1800's.

Looks like a drawer pull with a hidden compartment. :dontknow:

Clasp for a diary? Looks like the hand held something.

I don;t believe the crimped crown bottle cap was invented until the 1890's, so not a bottle opener, some sort of door/drawer pull maybe

I blew it up in PSP X. It looks like 19??...You'll need to clean it up with some baking soda and a toothbrush.

Well here's a possible clue for something I never knew existed. A handkerchief clasp (this one has a hand, in fact)

I was also thinking it may be an eyeglass holder worn on a ribbon around the neck when I found the above image.

that makes good sense.
also, it doesn't look refined enough for under clothes.
