At least, I believe it is a WW I battleship. The disk is thin, 3/4" diameter, and there is nothing on the back. There is a hole drilled through at the top. Found today in the yard of an 1880's home.

I have no idea what purpose this would have served. There is no text on it anywhere. Any guesses? Has anybody seen one of these before?

Edit: This is the sort of ship that I think I see in it:

View attachment 1486745Here's a similar but different one, said to be the Maine (but not the one that sank, which had two stacks): Battleship Maine Pictured.
This was a link that Bigcypresshunter found when researching a (again) similar but different piece here: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/506942-old-coin-button-skull-cross-bones.html
So, maybe the 2nd U.S.S. Maine, but maybe not?
Oh, man!! That is almost identical! It has a little more field around it, the front mast is not the same, and there are a few other very minor differences, but that is essentially the same thing.

The house across the street is where I found a Spanish-American War button last year. Coincidence?

Awesome find, maybe a souvenir from the ship. And its older than a WW1 era ship, it looks like a steam sail ship from the final quarter of the 19th century.

I will, but not tonight. I'll have to dig it out, and I'm fading fast and ready to hit the hay. PM me if I forget. By the way, mine is from a Spanish infantryman's uniform, not U.S.

Yeah, I realized that after I posted it. This would apparently be considered a Brooklyn Class ship, typical of the Spanish-American war period.

Might be a heavy cruiser, more common for them to have 3 stacks.

BB-25 New Hampshire was a 3 stacked BB, twin masts too. Likely had sister ships of the same design.

Obviously, the embossing is rudimentary, but they probably would have got things like the number of stacks and masts right.

I have one just like OP. It's on a small chain. Looks like a bracelet size and pretty period too. Gonna look for it.

Here we go....maine token.webp

Here is another one I have.remember the maine.webp
I noticed two stacks on the Maine and three on the other. The top token is extremely crude as to how it's been punched out.

I'm dumbstruck! This forum just blows me away! You're right... that is exactly the same thing!! Do you know anything about it?

A very cool find on the battleship disc. There may have been a Navy Veteran living in close proximity to where you are hunting. The Spanish American War button and this disc found in the same area could possibly mean more cool items to come. Continued Success to you.

I believe this to be a Spanish artilleryman's button from the Spanish-American war.
