My local coin shop had some up to an ounce I bought a 2 gram nugget. You might call around to your coin shops. I wouldn't buy online, If you buy local you have somewhere to go back to if an issue with authenticity. Plus you can get them to test it in front of you.

Good idea! I wonder how they would feel if I brought the CTX 3030 and checked it out.

back in the mid 90s when i was first getting into finding nuggets with a beeper.
i was convinced that i had to have a test nugget.
i epoxied a half gram nugget to a red poker chip, then lost it with in a month.
im sure some prospector had a grin on his face when he found it.
natural gold nuggets have impurities, such as silver and or copper in them.
so even if you were using vdi discrimination it would show different numbers on different nuggets.
what you should use is a bit of lead as it sounds just like gold and also acts very much like it too, with out the cost of it.
cut a plain lead 22lr bullet, not one with copper plating.
that would make it about 18 grains or a bit over a gram.
if you absolutely have to have it be gold. goldbay is reputable and will not sell fakes.
ebay is full of fake, melted nuggets here is a good article on spotting fake nuggets.

i see your out of Texas, do you nugget hunt AZ.
i saw a guy with a Excalibur last year in the hills.

Funny you mentioned Arizona because I really want to head to Arizona and go nugget hunting with the CTX and Excal. I really just want to get out to the damn water but apparently I got a staff infection in some flood water 3yrs ago and doctor trying to combat it
. It sure has made me sick. . Hopefully soon my leg will stop bleeding

You could go to our gold mining section and see if a member will sell one. Since you are a charter member any member can sell you a tiny nugget.

What about Ebay or a pawn shop . If you lived close to me (Canton Ohio) i would let you borrow one

My Falcon MD-20 came with one. I see they sell them at some dealers
