My hunting buddy found a small "Fur Trade" era Indian camp Saturday, so we went back this PM.
Wasn't a whole lot of stuff... quite a few musket balls & cut heavy brass wire, etc. Did dig a partial, fancy engraved, "tulip" style brass buttplate, but was to corroded to get a decent picture of it.
My best find was this small, sheet silver cross that was obviously made by the Indians from "sheet silver" they traded for.(normally they were made by silversmiths in Montreal, etc.)
It is about 3/4" tall (probably & "ear-bob") & dates 1775- 1820.

Your cross is truly a wonderful find

Ever since I've seen some of your posts, I've been paying careful attention
to areas along river banks and other areas that have a "feel" for encampment.
Maybe my day will come when I can find something as stunning as that cross :)

Well done!

i just love the older hand made relics-----so much feeling 2 those pieces

thats a sweet little ear bob, you're right about most of the trade silver coming from montreal, I suspect yours has been chopped from an original broken peice or sheet silver as too crude to be silversmith made. What a nice find!!
