small statue

i have a small statue think it come from crete ww11
mary and jesus on a throne (think its pewter)
cant find anything about it
on the base it says -- regina decor carmeli --
and stamped on the rear is --D.S.R

Very cool! don't have a clue on it,but looks easy enough to search based on symbols&wording...i have a small collection of religous images,i'll take a look at mine&see what I can come up with...COOL STATUE!

but have had two stories
1 it was taken from a blown up church in Crete by a soldier of the 8th army
2 was stolen from a palace in Crete by a soldier of the 8th army
glad i have found this site as there are always bits turning up on the local beach

My Grandad was in the 8th Army & was in Italy & various other locations. Although he never talked about it.

The stories probably have some truth in them. It looks high Roman Catholic to me & probably came from Crete or Italy but this could have come from a house as well as any Church & there is no reason why it couldn't have come from a Palace.

it was my dad that took it
but he died when i was 9 and my brothers and sisters have the two stories
it was lost for 10 years and i have it now
