Detector(s) used
Tesoro
outlaw,

Those two machines are really quite different. If your serious about wanting someone to help you choose, you need to supply a lot of background Info about how you want to use the detector: Where are you using it, Do you like target ID, What kind of detecting do you do?,etc. etc. Other wise you will get raves about what the person answering you uses (which THEY think is the best). Joe

Ok.... Well I'll be doing mostly old home sites, parks, anyplace where people gathered for coins, jewelry, relics. i live in north east mo. and beach hunting and prospecting is out of the question.

The Sov is a great machine in its own right. I have a couple of Excals which is a cousin of the Sov. Also just got a X-Terra 70 and have an explore 11 . Weight wise the X-Terra is the lightest and the choice of coils is good. I hunt parks with a Troy X5 19.3 kHz it works well with a fairly fast sweep loves small gold. The X-Terra with the 18.75 kHz coil should be close. Have heard that the X-Terra 70 has been a good seller. They all have a learning curve. Dan

I use a sovereign and love it. I just ordered the x70. I will be surprised if the x70 tells me more than my sovereign other than depth. I think I will like a depth gauge. It will hopefully keep me from digging deep for a two inch deep target.

Hmm, I don't know where you live...try to stop by Kansas City where the dealer is at home with many different model of metal detector on the display. You can test and play with it in their backyard. It is much easier to see and what you like, then you buy it. That is what I go there and learned something....before, I can't remember the name of metal detector was, then I test it and I don't like it...good things, not spend money...

Same idea, would you buy a new car without test drive? You always to drive test first to see if you like, same idea as metal detector....

Many people heard from others that best model of metal detector, then later, they don't like it.

X-Terra 70 is very good ever I tested before, but cost is little high....so I choose X-Terra 50.

Richard
